I will very soon be registering a proper domain name for OpenGamer's operations. For protection of the domain before I register it, I will NOT disclose the expected URL here until it has been registered. I also ask that you do not use domain-checkers to guess at the URL, as the registering sites will notice your interest and probably either: a) Register the domain as an advert site for themselves b) Increase the cost to obtain the domain. [Pre-release screenie][My Test Server] (where you can check on its progress) I know the test server is slow, but it'll do until i've registered the domain.

If you wanted a snazzy intro/spash screen, I could do that... Are you making the layout directly in Flash, or with some sort of creation tool?

I'm trying to avoid using flash for two reasons: 1) I don't actually have Flash any more (the editor that is) 2) I'm trying to make the site more accessible.
I'm making the whole thing in HTML with Javascript for various simple effects (rollovers on the buttons, that popup alert, etc.) and PHP for server-side scripting (basically, database-based stuff such as user accounts).

Oh, right. I just assumed from the general style of the screenshot you posted that it was made with Flash.

Damn, feels great and looks nice! But why does it say "JAVASCRIPT FAIL"? NoScript isn't blocking anything...

i put the JAVASCRIPT FAIL text in as a test, i may remove it at a later date, or just recode the site slightly to remove any need for it. I presume you're using firefox (NoScript is an addon, right?)
edit: I use google chrome for testing, i probably should do cross-browser compatability tests.

Yep, I'm using Firefox v3.5.3 with NoScript v1.9.8.86. And yeah, you should test it out with different browsers to make sure that it looks awesome everywhere

right, i removed the JAVASCRIPT FAIL message. I had been hard-coding the header, then replacing it with a dynamic header in JS, the JAVASCRIPT FAIL was to tell me whether it worked or not. I have now replaced this with a PHP 'include' command, which loads the header dynamically at the server, and the generated HTML is what you, the viewer, see. Please let me know of any problems you find.

Hmm, well, everything's fine really except that in the odd situation where a person resizes his browser's window and decreases the width significantly. The bar on top would get cut along with the side borders of the white space below that displays content.
But yeah, odd situation, so maybe only people who access the site with a portable/mobile web browser would have problems...

Thanks, I'm working on that. Also, I'm thinking of making a specially formatted mobile site for iPhone/iTouch users. Good idea?

Definitely! I like how the current site is done for ipod users, and I'm sure a site that you've progrmmed by yourself from scratch will have an even better portable interface.
